To begin our music magazine project, we learnt about all of the components that feature on front covers, and contents pages in magazines, including headlines, cover lines and explanatory lines. As a preliminary task, we created some basic front covers and contents for an imaginary school magazine. This helped me to become aware of some of the features of Photoshop and think about the positioning and to become aware of the space available on the page. For example, I realised that I had left a far too large gap between the headline and the top of my models head. I also realised that I should have thought more carefully about the sizing and locations of the magazine front covers cover lines, as the second one interferes with the subjects face who should be the main focus of the cover. When I make my real front cover, I need to ensure that I include all necessary components like the date, price and barcode, and make it more interesting by adding puffs. I will also ensure that I take a high quality for the background of the cover and stick to a specific colour scheme to reflect the Alternative/ Rock genre.
