MAGAZINE LAYOUT DRAFTS

I used Publisher and Powerpoint to create some rough layout designs for each of my magazine pages. This helped me to get an idea as to where I should locate certain features of the page and to thunk about sizing and spacial awareness. I added in fonts from Dafont and images from the internet that are linked to Alternative/ Rock artists to create a sense of what each finished page would look like.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD:

FINAL DESIGN:

I have chosen this layout as my final double page spread design, although I probably will make some adjustments to it, like changing the position of the pull quote. This is because I think that the space has been used well and it will give me the opportunity to edit the headline behind my solo artist which will make the page look more interesting and modern. As well as this, I have not over crowded the page with text columns so that readers don't get bored if there is too much writing.

CONTENTS PAGE:

FINAL DESIGN:

I have chosen this layout design to base my real contents page on because although it is quite simple, it provides the right amount of space for both text and images. I am also able to fit in my magazines mast head, and the date and issue number, at the top of the page without it looking over crowded. However, I am going to make some small changes to this design so that it looks more professional and interesting.

FRONT COVER:

FINAL DESIGN:

I have found a magazine from cover from Q magazine to base the layout of my own front cover on. I think this layout is effective because all of the information is clear and I like the positioning on the main cover line and the magazines mast head.
