CONTENTS PAGE DRAFTING

I began the process of making my own contents page for my magazine named '11' by researching existing contents pages from well known music magazines including Billboard, Kerrang and Q. I particularly focused on looking at the layouts of these pages as their layouts are what makes them look effective and professional. I observed that all of the contents pages feature one larger image from the most significant article in the magazine, surrounded by around 3 other smaller images from other important articles that are meant to draw the attention of readers. I also noticed that there are similar red, white and black colour schemes in most of the magazines contents pages which shows that this colour scheme has a significant role in delivering the indie/alternative rock image. I like how the images in most of the contents pages over lap each other and the writing that contains the page numbers of the articles is on the side of the page as I think this makes the page look more interesting and exciting to readers; this is an idea that I would like to include in my own contents page.

I made sure that I took a variety of different framed photos to chose from , and left enough space around the model for text to be added.

The NVC of my model reflects the Alternative/ Rock genre well as she appears very confident and serious.

Alternative/ Rock is a typically male dominated music genre so I want to feature a female artist in my magazine to open it up to more women.

FONTS:

I chose these fonts for my contents page as they are interesting and bold because of their size and distressed effect. I am also using one of the fonts that I used in my double page spread to make sure the magazine has a consistent theme.

The red and white striped boxes fit my magazines colour scheme and the Lana Del Rey American flag image

The blue page number stars link to the American flag image that Lana Del Rey is well known for.

The autographs of the artists engages readers as it is something personal from them.
